Dr Luiza Toma

With a background in statistics and economic forecasting and several periods of research with varying institutes, I joined Scotland’s Rural College in 2005 and have been applying economic modelling to animal health and welfare, food waste and circular economy, environmental efficiency, and technological uptake in over 30 research projects.

In my role as an economist with EPIC, I contribute to the economic modelling of animal disease and its impacts on climate change and the environment. I'm also involved in teaching and supervision at SRUC and the University of Edinburgh.
