Prof. Lisa Boden

Professor of Population Medicine and Veterinary Public Health Policy

Lisa Boden is EPIC Director of Policy and Impact.

Lisa Boden is Head of the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and Dean of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. She is a UK (RCVS) and European veterinary specialist in veterinary public health & population medicine with a PhD in veterinary epidemiology and a Masters of Laws in medical law and ethics. She holds a Personal Chair and is a Professor of Population Medicine and Veterinary Public Health Policy at the R(D)SVS at the University of Edinburgh; She is senior vice President of the European College of Veterinary Public Health (www.ecvph.org) and a member of the SSAC (Scottish Science Advisory Council).
Her research includes translation and communication of science as effective and ethical evidence for policy, contingency planning and emergency outbreak response and management, risk assessment and communication and horizon scanning and scenario planning work to facilitate strategic thinking about risk and long-term future resilience to disease outbreaks.


Professor Boden also leads a programme of One Health research in fragile and conflict affected regions (such as Syria and surrounding countries- see One Health FIELD Network) to improve preparedness and timely response to global health, environment and food security threats.
